CPAR has a number of administrative and working committees that are chaired by Board members. CPAR committee membership is limited to a total of six. Volunteers may apply to serve on a working committee. Membership in administrative committees is by Board of Directors nomination and appointment only.
Administrative Committees
- Attorney Selection Committee – To recruit qualified attorneys to provide legal assistance to economically disadvantaged non-professional athletes and teams (particularly children and young adults), with respect to their sports activities, and recommend qualified attorneys to handle legal matters identified by the CPAR Case Selection Committee. The Attorney Selection Committee will conduct the screening process for volunteer attorneys to ensure that they are appropriately qualified and meet other relevant criteria established by the Committee and approved by the Board.
- Case Evaluation Committee – To review requests for assistance from CPAR-qualified economically disadvantaged non-professional athletes and teams (particularly children and young adults) with respect to their sports activities. The Case Selection Committee will screen the submitted requests to ensure that they meet the subject matter criteria within sports and that the applicants meet the requirements established by the Committee and approved by the Board. The Committee will recommend those individuals and matters that meet CPAR requirements for assignment of a volunteer CPAR attorney.
- Finance Committee – The Finance Committee’s major role is to provide financial oversight for CPAR. The Finance committee’s responsibilities include developing an annual budget for approval by the Board, monitoring adherence to the established budget, setting short and long range financial goals for CPAR, establishing funding strategic plans with other committees, and to report any financial irregularities to the Board for appropriate action.
- Nominations Committee -To serve as a clearinghouse for evaluating potential CPAR Board and officer nominees in accordance with the CPAR Bylaws and mission statement. The Nominating Committee will focus on seeking Board members with substantial sports experience who can add both experience and diversity to the Board, and who are committed to volunteering time and resources to CPAR’s charitable initiatives and business operations.
Working Committees
- Education Committee – To provide sports-related educational resources for persons involved in non-professional athletic and sports activities (particularly children and young adults).
- Marketing & Public Relations Committee – To ensure that the public is informed about the activities of CPAR and the availability of its services and educational resources, in collaboration with other appropriate CPAR Committees. The Committee will ensure that the CPAR website contains content that appropriately reflects the charitable mission and achievements of CPAR in a manner that is professional, respectful and tasteful. The Committee will endeavor to attract advertisers and sponsors to financially support CPAR’s activities.
